Must Do’s At Tallinn Christmas Market

Tallinn Christmas Market

The Tallinn Christmas Market, located in the Town Hall Square is one of the most beautiful attractions during winter.

If you spend your Christmas holidays in Estonia, you can’t miss it! Here’s the schedule for this year.

The fairy tale like atmosphere, the humongous Christmas tree, Santa Clause, the festive performances, and the cosy little cottages with artisan gifts or delicious Christmas food create the ideal Christmas setting.
It’s of course best to visit when the city’s covered in snow, but either way it’s worth checking it out.
Last weekend I went to see it for the first time this year, and I was not disappointed!
Maybe there’s just something about me and Christmas…

Anyways, here’s a list of things you must do at the Tallinn Christmas Market.

1. Eat Estonian Christmas Food

Sauerkraut, blood sausages, pork chops, potatoes…. nobody can resist those tempting aromas. Make sure you don’t eat too much before visiting the market, so that you can properly enjoy Estonian Christmas food.

2. Drink Hot Cocoa or Glögi

There’s nothing better than a cup of hot cocoa or mulled wine — aka glögi — to warm up as you walk around the Town Hall Square.

Bonus: try one of those ginger bread cookies (piparkoogid) mmmmmm, you won’t regret it!

3. Check Out The Music Performances

You must check out the main stage where talented artists perform, incredible choirs sing holiday songs and Santa Claus himself shows up for you to take a selfie with and tell your Christmas wishes.

4. Shop for Artisan Gifts
